The iconic Line of Lode includes the Broken Earth Complex Building and the Miners Memorial which sits atop mining overburden in the heritage listed town of Broken Hill. These structures are located on a Crown Reserve currently managed by the Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure – Crown Lands.
Significant refurbishments to the Broken Earth Complex Building have been delivered over the past three years including landscaping, installation of new water infrastructure and complete building refurbishment with a brand-new commercial kitchen.
Crown Lands is seeking Expressions of Interest to realise the commercial potential of the building within the Line of Lode Reserve. The building has enormous potential to be used as a conference/wedding/function centre, restaurant, café, or even an art gallery. The Line of Lode Reserve is a highly visited location due to its dedication to the mining history of Broken Hill and the building can cater for high visitor numbers.
The Department is open to all types of proposals.
