The Meadowbank Bridge – also known locally as the ‘John Whitton Bridge’ – is a former rail bridge that is now a shared pathway. The bridge is a key component of the Greater Sydney active transport network.
Vesting of Crown land means to transfer the Title of Crown land to a new owner such as another Government Agency. This vesting will transfer ownership of the Meadowbank Bridge to Transport for NSW. It has been agreed that it is best for Transport for NSW to own and manage the Meadowbank Bridge as a part of their transport network.

The Meadowbank Bridge forms a key component of the Greater Sydney active transport network and is a heavily used cycleway. Transport for NSW have significant experience in managing infrastructure and assets like Meadowbank Bridge. It has been agreed that it is more appropriate for Transport for NSW to own and manage the Meadowbank Bridge as a part of their transport network.
Transport for NSW will be the new owner of the Meadowbank Bridge and responsible for its management and maintenance.
The Crown Reserve for Public Recreation and Urban Services over the Meadowbank Bridge will be revoked, however, there will not be any change in the way the community use the Meadowbank Bridge as a result of the vesting.
