Find out about and apply online for approval and consents for tidal and non-tidal boundaries, adjoining owner, and other boundary determinations.
Necessary actions for all applications
- Only a Registered Surveyor can make an application for the plan they have prepared. Visit the Board of Surveying and Spatial Information website (BOSSI) to find a registered surveyor to conduct an assessment on the boundary.
- Copy of completed Plan of Survey and Administration Sheets signed by the Registered Surveyor.
- Surveyor's report as outlined in section 74 Surveying and Spatial Information Regulation 2024 (SSIR 2024), including:
- Current photos with a suitable coverage over the length of the boundary with a line imposed to identify the position adopted.
- Details of any differences between the observed location of a natural feature or occupation and previous definitions.
- Qualified reasons for the difference (e.g., erosion, accretion, or error in prior survey.
- Copy of original grant to establish the extent of title.
- Copy of current title, DP’s, Government Gazettes, and Crown plans used to define the boundary.
- A survey geometry file of the subject boundaries (dwg or dxf).
- Aerial overlay of adopted boundary.
- Other authority searches if applicable.
- Council comment re public access if applicable.
- Information and/or statutory declarations from eyewitnesses (e.g., long-term residents).
- Professional advice or evidence (e.g., geomorphology or estuary studies, geotechnical evidence, soil/bore hole samples) if applicable.
- A description of the land and land use (e.g., whether natural, developed, or affected by man).
- Should the application for Crown land fall under the previous regulation (Surveying and Spatial Information Regulation 2017) please identify at the start of your application to ensure that it is assessed under the prior regulations.
