Bedgerabong Showground and Racecourse upgrade

20 Nov 2023

Bedgerabong Showground and Racecourse west of Forbes has better facilities to host community events and organisations with a new $142,600 amenities block.

The amenities block has been funded by a $135,000 NSW Government investment through Crown Lands plus a $7,640 contribution from the showground and racecourse managed by the local volunteer Crown land manager.

The new amenities block has provided a welcome upgrade for Bedgerabong Showground and Racecourse offering a more modern and larger facility in an improved location.

The six-cubicle unisex facility with disabled access and handbasins replaced a corrugated iron shed with three toilets.

The improved amenities for the Crown reserve will support the crowds who attend community events like the local show, annual picnic races and equestrian events.

Visitors will have shorter queues with the six-cubicle facility with disability access to cater for all, ensuring the grounds are better serviced for wider community use.

Crown Lands Executive Director of Land and Asset Management Greg Sullivan said Crown reserves provide communities with land for everything from showgrounds and racecourses to ovals, parks, green space, walking trails and community halls.

“Showgrounds and racecourses are at the heart of regional communities and good amenities are key to catering for their visitors, so this investment will help Bedgerabong Showground and Racecourse operate more effectively,” Mr Sullivan said.
