Our roles and responsibilities
The key legislation administered by Crown Lands is the Crown Land Management Act 2016 and the Crown Land Management Regulation 2018.

Western Lands

Crown lands explained
Crown land is land which is managed by the NSW Government in the public interest and plays a central role in a changing and thriving NSW, by helping to create and support prosperous and resilient communities.

Travelling stock reserves
There are more than 6,500 travelling stock reserves on NSW Crown land covering approximately two million hectares.

Recreational use
Our recreational spaces in NSW are used for a diverse range of activities including camping, surfing, hiking, sport and more.

Crown land 2031 is a 10-year strategy to ensure that Crown land is put to its best uses to benefit communities.

Work has been completed on stage one of a major clean-up of the historic former Batlow sawmill site to repair the land for the local community.
