Fivebough Wetlands walking track works

Projects

Key points

From 25 April 2026, we’ll be upgrading a water control structure and completing channel remediation works to protect the wetland and walking track.

The project will:

  • protect the walking track by preventing ongoing erosion
  • improve water flow to support healthier wetland conditions
  • reduce safety risks for people using the track and lookouts
  • protect a Ramsar‑listed wetland of international importance
  • support long‑term planning and management of Fivebough Wetlands.

Impacts

During construction, you may notice:

  • temporary closure of the Fivebough Wetlands walking track
  • construction vehicles and machinery in the area
  • detours directing visitors to the alternative lookout at Hooey's Lookout.

We thank you for your patience and cooperation.
