New $1 million multi-purpose sporting facility for Laurieton

27 October 2025

A brand new, accessible multi-purpose sports grandstand has been completed at Laurieton on the Mid North Coast thanks to a partnership between Port Macquarie-Hastings Council, the NSW Government and Australian Government.

Crown Lands, part of the NSW Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure, allocated $330,000 to the grandstand at the Vince Inmon Sporting Complex through its Crown Reserves Improvement Fund, along with $270,555 from the Australian Government's Local Roads and Community lnstructure Program. The rest of the $1.1 million project was funded by Port Macquarie Hastings Council.

The Vince Inmon Sporting Complex is the home of several local sporting clubs, including cricket, Australian rules, rugby league, netball, touch football, and little athletics tournaments.

The new grandstand will elevate the complex into a regional sporting hub that can host large events and foster increased sporting participation rates.

The new facility includes a terrace grandstand that overlooks the main oval, allowing spectators to watch local sport in action. New gender-neutral bathrooms will support the growing number of women and girls who are playing sport locally. The amenities include showers and accessible bathrooms, ensuring everybody can enjoy the venue in safety and comfort.

Ravenous players and spectators will be able to satisfy their match-day appetites at the new ground-floor kiosk. Guests will be able to hire the indoor meeting space for events. A large storage room has been built to allow sporting clubs ample space to store equipment, and a dedicated referee room has also been constructed.

The new multi-purpose facility will allow Camden Haven sporting clubs to flourish while also supporting nearby schools, small businesses, and encouraging more active and passive recreation. The upgraded facilities replace older buildings that were out of date and not fit for purpose.

Port Macquarie Hastings Mayor Adam Roberts said:

"This multi-purpose grandstand will allow local and visiting athletes, families, and spectators to take advantage of a modern, fit-for-purpose facility that better meets the needs of our expanding Camden Haven sporting community.

"I'd like thank the council, state and federal governments for their investment in this new grandstand and look forward to seeing it in operation soon."

Minister for Lands and Property and Minister for Sport Steve Kamper said:

"The NSW Government is focused on building better communities, which is why we have helped fund this wonderful new all-in-one facility at Laurieton. Not only does it look great, but it's going to encourage more people to play sport locally, including women and girls.

"Crown Lands was happy to support Port Macquarie-Hastings Council with funding to ensure this important piece of community infrastructure could be completed."
