Crown lands has worked in collaboration with the Rural Fire Service and Soil Conservation Service to conduct helicopter aerial inspections of fire trails on Crown land.
The Environment Protection Authority has notified the site and as a result further remediation is planned to be undertaken this year by the department.
The Urunga Wetlands site is now a valuable community space following a $10 million program of extensive remediation and parkland work. It has been transformed from a once barren wasteland to a lively wetland habitat.
