Proposed lease of Crown land at Tom Ugly's Bridge Marina by direct negotiation

The former Department of Planning and Environment, Crown Lands is undertaking community consultationfor theproposedlease of Crown land located at 5 Princes Hwy, Sylvania NSW 2224.

Crown Lands is considering the lease of Crown land identified approximately by the red shaded area on the aerial diagram (pending survey) adjoining Lot 5 DP11575 by direct negotiation to the existing tenant and adjoining freehold landowner.

The land is currently held under licence by the adjoining landowner who operates the site as a commercial marina.

Subject to meeting the conditions of a redevelopment approval issued by Sutherland Shire Council, the proponent has indicated they intend to redevelop the site with a 65-berth marina and improved amenity of both the above and below mean high water mark lands. The proposed redevelopment is consistent with the department's Commercial Marina Framework, developed following a recommendation from the Crown Land Commissioner's Taskforce after consultation with industry and peak bodies in order to deliver elements of the Crown Lands 2031 Action Plan.

How will the land continue to be used under the proposed lease?

The lands will continue to be used as a commercial marina. If the lease is granted the proponent has indicated that, subject to meeting the conditions of a development approval issued to them by Sutherland Shire Council, they intend to redevelop the site with a 65-berth marina. The proposed redevelopment is consistent with the department's Commercial Marina Framework.

When will the department make a decision?

The department must follow the steps outlined in the Community Engagement Strategy.  A decision be made following the 28-day consultation period once the department has reviewed comments and feedback provided by the community and stakeholders.

The notification period for this proposed dealing is 28 days, commencing Monday, 28 August 2023 and closing at 11:59 PM on Monday, 25 September 2023.
