Training and education

We are committed to developing the capability of our Crown land managers (CLMs) to achieve great outcomes in the care, control, and management of Crown reserves.

We  offer flexible training and education options based on the areas of knowledge that are important for our CLMs.

Vista is a new digital learning platform designed for CLMs. It provides online training and resources to support reserve managers in their work.

Initially, CLMs will be able to access the Crown land manager induction, work health and safety, and Xero courses on Vista.

We will continue to expand Vista’s catalogue of courses and resources as the platform grows. Future courses will focus on areas of reserve management, including governance, financial management, reporting, environmental and cultural heritage, asset management, and project management.

Previously, CLMs accessed training resources, including the Crown land manager induction, through the Crown Lands website. CLMs will now need to register for Vista to complete their online training and access a range of learning resources.

Vista is being made progressively available to CLMs from April 2026, based on training priorities. CLMs can register directly on the Vista site. User guides are available to assist with registration.

CLMs can register directly on the Vista site by following these steps:

1. Select Create New Account. If you already have an account, select Sign In.
2. Consent to site policy.
3. Enter your self-registration details (including a valid email and password).
4. Enter your 'Manager type' e.g. council or SLM, and Land Manager name.
5. Confirm your registration (upon receipt of email) and continue to the Vista site.
6. Select from available courses on front page.
