Atherton Drive Boathouses, Urunga

The NSW Government has launched an Expression of Interest (EOI) campaign to lease, restore and reactivate four boathouses at Atherton Drive, Urunga.

In February 2021, the NSW Government launched an Expression of Interest (EOI) campaign to lease, restore and reactivate four boathouses at Atherton Drive, Urunga.

The EOI process was aimed at testing the market’s interest to rehabilitate and repurpose the boathouses under a lease arrangement to improve visitor amenity and activate the Atherton Drive foreshore recreation area.

The EOI closed on 23 April 2021 and Crown Lands is currently evaluating the responses received against the selection criteria.  The evaluation criteria include economic viability, contribution to visitor amenity and the proposed planning approval pathway.  The EOI evaluation is expected to be finalised by July.

Subject to commercial viability being demonstrated by the market, the EOI will then be followed by a formal Request for Proposals (RFP) to allocate a lease/s.

The RFP stage will include community consultation on the uses proposed for the boathouses in accordance with the Crown land Community Engagement Strategy.
