Drivers will enjoy improved road conditions in Central Tilba with the NSW Government investing more than $81,000 to fix a stretch of road that connects residents to properties and Corunna State Forest.

Minister for Lands and Water Kevin Anderson said the funding has repaired a 1,135 metre unsealed section of Brushgrove Lane near the Princes Highway end of the road.

“Brushgrove Lane was damaged by heavy rain in March 2021 but these roadworks have restored safe access for residents and visitors to the area,” Mr Anderson said.

“A local contractor was used for the work to provide a safer and smoother journey for motorists.

“This investment will strengthen the community with improved access to people’s homes, state forest and infrastructure including an NBN mobile phone tower.”

Minister for Regional Transport and Roads Sam Farraway said the NSW Government was investing in Central Tilba and delivering stronger connections on the regional road network.

“This Government is building what matters and restoring important connections for the local community,” Mr Farraway said.

“The road network keeps our regional communities connected for locals and visitors alike. Completion of this project will deliver a safer and stronger road for Central Tilba – just one way this Government is securing a brighter future for NSW.”

The road work has been managed by Crown Lands as part of $33 million statewide Flood Recovery Programs supported by the NSW and Federal Governments.

Work has included grading the road smooth, topping it with new base and improving drainage.

As well as properties, Brushgrove Lane provides access to the 180 hectare Corunna State Forest south of Narooma which is home to rare bird species including the White- bellied Sea-Eagle, Masked Owl and Swift Parrot.

The forest adjoins Corunna Lake in the Batemans Marine Park and is a popular spot for day trippers and tourists with Eurobodalla National Park and Bodalla State Forest also nearby.
