Construction starts on new amenities at Bungonia's historic village park

Construction has commenced on a new amenities project at Bungonia Village Park, improving facilities for locals, campers and the thousands of visitors who pass through the village each year.

The NSW Government has contributed $228,648 through the annual Crown Reserves Improvement Fund to support the Bungonia Park Land Manager to deliver new amenities, featuring four public toilets, including accessible facilities, adult and baby change amenities, a shower, accessible pathways and accessible parking.

In the heart of Bungonia, 25 minutes east of Goulburn, the historic Crown reserve has supported travellers, campers and residents across the Southern Tablelands for generations.

At the gateway to Bungonia National Park, the park is an important stop for people exploring the region's natural landscapes, heritage attractions and outdoor recreation opportunities.

The start of construction marks a major milestone after years of planning and volunteer effort, with works expected to be completed by mid-November 2026. The project will transform a disused tennis court into a modern community asset, replacing former drop toilets that closed in 2019.

The new amenities will support longer stays, community events and increased visitation, while helping visitors enjoy Bungonia's heritage trail, historic attractions and cultural experiences.

The project reflects the important role volunteer Crown land managers play in caring for public land and delivering lasting benefits for regional communities. It has received strong support from local community organisations, historical groups, Goulburn Mulwaree Council and community members.
