Draft Cemeteries and Crematoria Amendment Regulation 2017 and Better Regulation Statement consultation

The draft Cemeteries and Crematoria Amendment Regulation 2017 includes proposed regulations to support specific provisions contained in the Cemeteries and Crematoria Act 2013, which will establish the regulatory framework for a new interment rights system.

The proposed proclamation of part 4 of the Cemeteries and Crematoria Act 2013 will commence the new interment rights system for NSW, including the option of renewable interment rights.

The draft amendment regulation is on public exhibition from Friday 24 November 2017 to Friday 22 December 2017.

The draft regulation has been assessed in accordance with the Better Regulation Principles and the Subordinate Legislation Act 1989.

The Better Regulation Statement was used to assess the necessity and appropriateness of the changes. The impact on customers and the wider community was also considered. The results of the analysis carried out through the Better Regulation Statement process informed the development of the draft regulation.

Interested persons or organisations are invited to submit a written comment on the Better Regulation Statement and proposed Cemeteries and Crematoria Amendment Regulation 2017.
