Service Recognition Awards acknowledge Reserve Trust members who have dedicated over 10 years of voluntary service to the management of a community Trust Board. Many of the 35,000 Crown reserves that provide a wide range of experiences and activities, as well as many other significant environmental and cultural benefits, for the entire community are managed by Community Trust Boards made up of community volunteers who play an important role in the management of these valuable community assets.

The NSW Government has delivered new legislation to underpin the management of the State’s vast and important Crown Estate, following the passing of the Crown Land Management Act 2016 and the Crown Land Legislation Amendment Act 2017.

Navigational dredging of Cudgen Creek and sand nourishment for Kingscliff Beach involves removing accumulated sediment from the navigation channel in lower Cudgen Creek to enable safe boat passage and using the dredged material for beach nourishment with a focus on Kingscliff Beach.

01/09/2016   Crown land tenures and native title

Certain Crown land licences and permits have terminated automatically, in accordance with a clause in those licences and permits, following the Bandjalang, Yaegl and Barkandji native title consent determinations made by the Federal Court of Australia. These determinations recognise that non-exclusive native title rights continue to exist over certain Crown land. The Department has written to all affected licence holders in these areas advising of this fact and how the situation is being addressed.
