Member Induction Program – Compulsory requirement for new and re-appointed members

In response to Internal Audit recommendations, all trust members are now required to complete the Members Induction Program prior to their appointment being finalised. This requirement also applies to re-appointed members.

The program provides an overview of the key roles and responsibilities of community trust board members.

A new version of the program has now been launched on our website.

The aim is to strengthen governance and ensure all members (new or re-appointed) maintain awareness of their responsibilities as a Trust Board member.

Requirements:

  • Both new applicants and members applying for re-appointment will receive notification to complete the program.
  • Applicants will be advised of timeframe to complete the program.
  • Appointments and re-appointments as members will be finalised when the program has been completed.

NSW Department of Industry - Lands (the Department) maintains a register of members who have completed the induction program. Certificates are issued upon completion and are valid for a 5 year period.
For members who complete the member induction program online, the Department will automatically be notified of your completion.

For members who do not have access to the online program, hard copy versions can be requested. Please Contact Us at the Reserves Team.

Service Recognition Awards

The Department has recently developed  a Service Recognition Awards process as a way of appreciating and providing recognition to members who have served ten years or more on trust boards. These awards will replace the previous long service awards issued by the Department.

Members will be eligible for these awards if they have served 10 years of continuous service with one trust board and these awards will be automatically generated twice a year.

Members who have 10 years of service across multiple trust boards may also be considered. Nominations and enquiries for these members should be directed to the Department.

Your local office will contact your trust to inform you of nominated members due to be issued with awards.
